Void Realism

Artist Statement 

　

私は、無常観を人生観の根底に据え、存在が揺らぎつつ立ち上がるリアリティを彫刻として定着させようとしている。人間のリアリティは、解剖学的な正確さのみに宿るものではない。むしろ、時の中で変容し続ける不確かさにこそ本質がある。私は、量塊によって完成や永続性を示してきた従来の彫刻に対し、問いを立てている。人間の存在は時と共に霧散し、些細な刺激で消滅しうる。それでもなお立ち上がる、形と空のあいだにある、私が捉える人間存在のリアリティを彫刻として成立させたい。 制作において、視線が結ばれる顔や胸元にかけて、造形は必然的に密度を増していく。それは、人が他者を記憶するとき、最後まで失われずに残る面影の濃淡に重なる。存在が消失へ向かう過程で、なお残り続ける「個の核」を炙り出すための構造である。

私が表そうとしているのは、愛や人とのつながり、平和、美への希求といった静かで普遍的な願いである。形は確かに存在しながら、同時に空である。この矛盾が生む緊張と静けさの中に、私は彫刻の新たなリアリティを見出そうとしている。

 I ground my worldview in the concept of impermanence (mujō), and seek to give sculptural form to a reality that emerges even as existence trembles and fluctuates. Human reality does not reside solely in anatomical accuracy; rather, its essence lies in the uncertainty that continues to transform over time. I question the traditions of sculpture that have conveyed completion and permanence through mass. Human existence dissipates with time and can vanish through the slightest stimulus. Yet what continues to arise is a presence suspended between form and void. It is this reality of human existence, as I perceive it, that I seek to establish through sculpture.

In my practice, the density of form inevitably intensifies toward the face and chest, where the gaze converges. This corresponds to the gradations of memory — the lingering traces of a person that remain until the very end. The structure is intended to reveal the “core of the individual” that persists even as existence moves toward disappearance. What I aim to express are quiet and universal aspirations: love, human connection, peace, and the longing for beauty. Form undeniably exists, yet it is simultaneously void. Within the tension and stillness generated by this contradiction, I seek to discover a new reality for sculpture.
